Story ideas

I write stories.  A lot.  Like...a lot a lot.  Anyway, recently I had an idea, and someone told me I should share it, so I decided I would.  However, it's not like many people read this, so it's a pretty safe bet that I'm not sharing it with many people.

Ok, here goes.

It starts off with Kaylee Lang, a stressed actress trying to pay off school.  She's religious in the sense that she goes to church and believes in her religion, but she doesn't force others to believe, and she doesn't force herself to do things.  One day, she's approached by a man who's trying to con her into doing something for her, pulling at her religious beliefs.  She brushes him off and goes home.  The reader overhears a conversation between two parties, discussing Kaylee and a few other people.  They discuss tactics to manipulate Kaylee, and reveal that they are looking for four people.  Their tone is rather degrading, as if they don't care about Kaylee.

The next night, Kaylee has a dream.  She dreams that she's in Heaven, and that an angel is asking her to do something.  The angel explains that she, and three other humans, have been chosen by God to track down four powerful elementals, and bind them.  Kaylee accepts, and meets her companions.  They have a guide who answers the technical questions.  Kaylee learns that each of the four humans is suited to find one of the four elementals, and her element is Water.  The angels had apparently almost captured Water, but the elemental slipped out of their grasp before they could bind him.  Since then, Water has disappeared, and no one has been able to find any leads.

The four hunters each start researching, and with some help, get a few leads.  The first elemental to be located  is Fire, in the form of a fiesty corporate lawyer.  Kaylee decides that the others do not need her help to capture this woman, and starts following hunches to find Water.

While off by herself, she meets a young boy named Shane, who has run away from his parents.  He figures out that Kaylee is looking for someone that is more than human, but does not guess as to the origin of her mission.  Shane decides to follow Kaylee around the US, lending his own common sense to Kaylee's instinctiveness.

Kaylee learns that Fire has been captured, and that Earth has been located as she's searching Baltimore.  Instinct has led her here, and will not let her leave.  She was told to follow her gut because there was no other way to find her quarry, so she is.  As an actress, she has strong instincts, and can put herself into the shoes of other people.

Just as Kaylee's determination is waning, she gets a new lead.  Shane says that he's found a possibility, and leads Kaylee into an old warehouse.  Kaylee starts feeling that she's been tricked, and incorrectly assumes that Shane is working for the Water elemental, and that she's probably going to die.  Elementals were volatile at best, and known to enjoy revenge.

When Shane reveals himself to be the Water elemental, and that he is most definitely NOT going to hurt Kaylee, she can't help but not trust him.  Eventually, Shane wins her over when he explains that he's always gone with what was easiest.  He followed the policy of 'path of least resistance,' and he'd intended on allowing the angels to capture him until they'd asked him to do something for them.

Alright, that's all it is for now.  I don't want to give TOO much away (read as: I haven't thought any more up) but I'll be posting chunks of the story up here, as I write it.  If you have any comments or questions, let me know.
